RECORD COMMERCIAL, July 25, 1879: "Miss Roxy Pomroy (sic) committed suicide on Sunday last. The particulars as we have them from a reliable source are as follows: The Pomroy family live two miles north and east of Whiteford Centre, and are reputable people. Although their daughter has been unfortunate before, she was a bright , intelligent firl, 19 years of age. On Sunday last she complained of felling (sic) very bad with a pain in her stomach and bowels. It was then suspected that she had taken something while her folks were at church. Dr. Webster, of Lambertville, was sent for, but it was no doubt too late. She lingered in great agony until Monday at 2 o'clock when she died, having given birth two hours before. No doubt it was her intention to commit suicide, although the fatal doese caused the premature birth of her child. It is not known postively what the [poison was, but it is thought it was paris green by some; others, and those who would be apt to know, think she took a mixture of camphor, turpentine, and cayenne pepper, which in large quaintities, would cause death of both mother and child. There was no post mortem examination and it will no doubt never be known what caused her death. The family have the sympathy of the community. The funeral was at the house at 10 o'clock a.m. Tuesday." Contemporary descendants say that Roxany never married Mr. Huasch, the father of her son Fred. It is not known what happened to the son. Possibly he went to live with his Hausch relatives in Ohio.
