Note: ated 29 June 1906: " Fernando E. Pomeroy was born in thompson, Ohio, June 19, 1837. he came to Bedford with his parents at the age of 7 years. He married Abbie teal of Erie July 4, 1869. Aug 9, 1862, he enlisted in Co. K, 18th Mich. Vol, and after serving his country for nearly three years he returned to his home and was an honored citizen of Bedford and Whiteford ever since.He died June 21, 1906, aged 69 years. He leaves a widow, two sons, Edward and Fred of Toledo, and a daughter, Mrs. Adella Couture, with whom he resided, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral Services were conducted at the house Sunday morning, Rev. Owens of Temperance officiating. The remains were escorted to their last remaining place in the Lambertville cemetery by Lawton Post G.A.R. of which he was a charter member and held in high esteem by all his comrades. POMEROY---at present school inspector of Whiteford township, has held the office five years. he was a solider of 1861, a member of the 18th Regiment Michigan Volunteer Infantry. he enlisted at Whiteford, August 9, serving three years. He was captured near lancaster, Kentucky, March, 1863; was paroled and discharged July 11, 1865. He was born in Thompson, Geauga, Ohio, June 19, 1837, and removed to Monroe county in 1841, with his parents, Elbridge and Nancy (Curtis) Pomeroy. He was married in Whiteford township, July 4, 1862. His wife, Abba L., daughter of Taylor T. and Sarah A. (Lefered) Teal, was born in Erie, Monroe county, Michigan, February 23, 1841, and is the mother of Edward E., born April 29, 1867; Ivadell M., June 2, 1871; Fred F., March 23, 1874. Eleazer Pomeroy, Fernando's grandfather, settled in Bedofrd township in 1831 Or 1834? difficult to read); was among the first settlers there. Mrs. Pomeroy's parents settled in Erie township when Vienna contained but three houses. Mr. Pomeroy, residing in Whiteford township, is a carpenter and joiner.
