Note: lanson Curtiss was born in Monroe Co, NY in 1830. Died about 1865. Was twice married. His first wife was a French lady named Harriet Farabee, who died in Rochester, NY about the year 1835, leaving a little girl three weeks old. His last wife's name is unknown. Neither she nor her children could be found in Rochester. She had a boy Charley Curtiss born about the year 1844, and other children." He goes on to say, "Truman Curtiss was born in Prattsburg, Steuben Co, NY in 1805; Died in Trumbull or Geauga Co, OH about the year 1878. he married Betsy Bostic, had four children: Emogene, Sylvester, Edward and Sarah. Lived in Trumbull Co., Ohio." According to Rochester City Directory, there was a Caroline Curtis living with Charles E. Curtis at 37 Savannah. UNION & ADVERTISER, Feb 20, 1866 (found at Rochester Public Library): "SUDDEN DEATH---An old citizen, Alanson Curtis, residing on Savannah street, a stonemason by trade, and ..... at the Alexander street M.E. Church, while attending to his duties at the church last evening, was smitten with apolexy. He made his way to a neighboring home, where medical assistance was ......He died at his own home, where he had been removed about one o'clock this morning. He was about 65 years of age, and leaves a family, we understand."
