Ohio Volunteers where he enlisted 21 Nov 1861 at Delta for 3 years. He was transferred to Co. M 67 Mich Eng. as private Sept 15, 1863. He was discharged at Nashville, TN Sept. 22, 1865. He had also been discharged July 12, 1862 due to epilepsy. His occupation was carpenter. He was born March 29, 1829 in Gainsville, NY and had resided in Ottawa Lake, OH, 2 years before residing at Deerfield. He died Oct 13, 1921 at Deerfield. At time of his application for pension, his wife was Florence Perry, and his residence was Rea, MI. They had been married Jan 24, 1893 in MOnroe Co., MI. His first wife was Lydia who died 15 or 18 Jun 1892 in Dundee, Monroe, MI. Their children were William, b Jan 4, 1853; Lelia, b Jun 2, 1859; Martain, May 10, 1863; Frank, b Dec 19, 1872; and John, b May 5, 1874. Florence died Jan 17, 1902 at Deerfield. His third wife was Ann whose first husband was Addison Aiken who died 11 Apr 1891 at Sioux City, Iowa. She married Roayl March 1, 1902 in Adrian, Lenawee, MI. She was aged 85, b Sept 15, 1863 at Roseville, TN. It appears from the above census and Royal's Civil War papers that Royal and Florence had no children.
