a. Note:   MONROE EVENING NEWS, Nov 26, 1934: "Carl DeLand, 58, Died in Hospital
  Carl DeLand, aged 58 years, of Milan, former resident of Monroe, died in the Monroe Hospital Saturday afternoon. Mr. DeLand had suffered a stroke of paralysis and a heart attack while he was returning to his home in Milan from his work at the River Raisin Paper Company here. he had been employed at the River Raisin Paper Company as a steam fitter for the last 16 years. he was foreman of the steam fitting crew.
 He had lived in Monroe up to about a year and a half ago when he moved to Milan. Before he was employed by the River Raisin Paper Company he had operated creameries in Dundee and Newport. He was born in Lambertville, january 27, 1876, and lived in Monroe county practically all his life.
 He was married to Miss Grace Davis of Milan September 25, 1902, who, with two sons, survive. The sons are Gordon of Carleton, and Davis of Toldeo. He also leaves three brothers Nelson of Hale, Michigan, Ora of Centralis, Washington and Grover of Tyler, Texas.
 The body will be removed from Allore and Beams Mortuary to the home in Milan this afternoon. Funeral services will be held in the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. M.C. S---- (illegible) of the Milan Methodist Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in the Marble Park Cemetery."
