Lambertville: James Johnson, 65, farmer, $2500, $300, NY; Esther, 56, k-house, NY; Cynthia, 28, at home, MI; Mark, 12, at school, MI; Mary, 11, at school, MI; and Curtis Tucker, 20, farmhand, MI. Look for her in 1880 and 1900 Censuses. Someone reported seeing Hester Johnson living with son Curtis in Lenawee Co, MI in the 188o Census (probably Ridgeway). In Winifred Downey's possession is a letter written by Lois Hausch to Francis Bowen Curtis, Winifred's grandfather: "Mahla Delands address Dundee Mich; that is where Hester lives with her oldest Daughter. I have wrote them 3 months ago but have received no word from there; last fall they wrote but I have not herd since. Alfred, Hester's oldest son wrote and said he thought his Mother would outlive Mahala as she has been in very poor health for a long time." There was also a letter to Francis from his niece, Allie Sutton in which she mentioned Uncle Truman and Aunt Betsey. Another letter from Lois Huasch mentioning Alfred's address as Lambertville. According to Ohio Genealogical Soc., the Tuckers were in Hartsgrove Township, about 20 miles south of where father Truman was living. They lived there from 1837 to about 1852. They are not buried there. She died of paralysis at the age of 80 years.
