Note: : Curtis Tucker, farmhand in household of James and Esther Johnson, ae 26, MI. Adrian Daily Telegram, Monday, September 11, 1911: " Death Sunday Morning of Curtis M. Tucker Deerfield-Curtis M. Tucker, who was stricken with paralysis last Wednesday night, died Sunday morning. The paralysis had first affected only the left side, but gradually spread over the entire morning, Friday morning. Mr. Tucker fell into a stupor from which he never rallied. He was 62 years of age and had been in expecial (sic) good health never haing required the services of physician for 40 years. On the contrary his wife has always been in poor health and is now nearly prostrated by the shock of his sudden death. Another sad coincidence arises from the fact that one of his sons, Harry, was to be married Thursday of this week to Miss Shirley Bragg of Deerfield. Mr. Tucker is survived by the wife, and five children: Hiram of Tecumseh; Reuben, who resides north of Deerfield, Mrs. Van Ness of Britton; Harry and Grace, who resides at home. Burial in Deerfield Village Cemetery." ADRIAN DAILY TELEGRAM, Tuesday, September 14, 1911: "Deerfield News Curtis Tucker was born Feb. 23, 1850, in Geauga Co, OH, and died Sept. 10, 1911. In 1872 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Porter. He is survived by his wife and five children, Hiram, Reuben, Jessie, Harry, and Grace. he came to Michigan at the age of two years and has lived in Monroe and Lenawee Counties the most of the time. The funeral was conducted from the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Priestly. The bearers were Fred Weisinger, Edwin Newll, George Irelan, Frank Smith, Wm Frayer, and Edgar Daykin. The music was funished by Mr. & Mrs. V. B. Cannon and Mr. & Mrs. L. Smith. Relatives present from a distance were Mr. & Mrs. John Porter, Mrs. Ferote, George Jones, Charles Masters, all of Toledo; Mrs. Emma Gray of Lambertville; and Wm Masters and family of Samaria." PETERSBURG SUN, Dec. 6, 1940 " MRS. ELIZABETH TUCKER The body of Mrs. Elizabeth Tucker, aged 89 years, was brought to the Deerfield cemetery for burial on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Tucker was well known here and is survived by three sons, Reuben and Harry Tucker, of Britton, and Harley Tucker, of Petersburg; two duaghters, Mrs. Grace Newell, of Ida, and Mrs. Jessie VanNest, of Romulus, 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren." Burial records have been found for both Curtis and wife, "Libbie." LDS Film #0857315 (Lenawee Co. Cemetery Records): Deerfield, Lenawee Village Cemetery on pg 92: Curtis M. Tucker 1850-1911 Libbie Tucker 1852-Nov. 29, 1940 ADRIAN DAILY TELEGRAM, Saturday, November 30, 1940: "Britton, Nov. 30 -- Mrs. Elizabeth Tucker, 89 years old, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy VanNest at Romulus at 7 o'clock last evening after a long illness. She had been confined to her bed for five weeks. Mrs. Tucker lived near Britton for many years until she went to the home of her daughter four years ago. her husband Curtis Tucker died 28 years ago. She is survived by 3 sons, Reuben and Harry Tucker of Britton and Ivan Tucker of Petersburg; 2 duaghters, Mrs. Grace Newell of Ida and Mrs. VanNest; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Niblack Funeral Home. The burial will be in the Deerfield Cemetery." Unfortunately no burial was found for Curtis's mother Hester on this film.
