Note: Laura was living with Hall Deland in his 1870 Census. MONROE DEMOCRAT, June 15, 1893: " WAKEFIELD At the family residence in Raisinville last Thursday, occurred the death of Mrs. George S. Wakefield, of apoplexy, aged about 50 years. Mrs. Wakefield was born in Ohio and came to this county with her parents when a child. She leaves three children by a former husband. She had a large circle of friends through the county, who will long remember her as a kind-hearted, christian woman. Her remains were buried at Lambertville last Saturday. She married Mr. Wakefield about three years ago." MONROE EVENING NEWS, 20 Feb 1924: " GEORGE S. WAKEFIELD George S. Wakefield, one of the best known citizens of Monroe county passed away at his home near Grape in Raisinville township, last night at 8:30 o;clock after a lingering illness. Mr. Wakefield had been in failing health for the past year. He was born in Monroe 85 years ago and lived on the farm where he died for more than 60 years. He was very charitable and was held in high esteem by his many friends in this county. During the civil War, Mr. Wakefield was employed by the government in buying horses in Arkansas. He was a member of Monroe Lodge No. 27, F. and A.M. The Msons will have charge of the funeral service. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Silas Kring, of North Macomb strret and one son, Jesse P. Wakefield, of Toledo; one sister, Mrs. Mary V. Alford, of sout Macomb street, Monroe, and one brother, Stephen B. Wakefield, of Toledo. The body will be brought to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Silas Kring on North Macomb street. The funeral arrangements have not been completed as yet. Mrs. Kring is in Florida and an effort is being made to locate her." George was buried in the Woodland Cemetery in the city of Monroe.
