Note: In the 1900 census Edith is 14, attends school, and is living with her parents in Hillsborough Co. Florida. In the 1910 census she is living with an aunt , Sarah Barnum and her daughter Sadie Wllson. They are in College Hill, Hillsborough Co, Florida. Edith's last name is still Lord, but she says she has been married 3 years and is the mother of one child, not living. She is working as a box maker in a box factory. In the 1920 census she and Dalton are living in Savannah with 4 children, Charley, Richard, David and Nettie. From family interviews, I know that Charley and Richard are in fact her step sons, the children of Dalton's deceased 1st wife, Ada Cowart. The 1930 Census shows her living in San Diego with her husband Dalton and her 3 children: David, Netta and Luther. In the mid 1930s Edith suffered a crippling stroke and was bedridden and living in various "care homes" for the rest of her life (she died in 1969). Dalton divorced her and married someone else. The only family members to visit her during all those years were her daughter Netta and Netta's children. Her mind was always quite sharp according to Netta's dughter Paula.
