Notes
a. Note:   Barrett, as he was called by the family was a cheerful young man who was a great favorite of his sisters. He enlisted in the Army in World War I, but died in a tragic accident during an expostion of the troops in Los Angeles. He was riding "roman" which is riding while standing with one foot on the back of two horses. There was someone else doing the same thing and at first thay all rode in the same direction. Then the general ordered them to ride in opposite directions. The horses tangled and both young men were thrown to their deaths. Barrett's mother and sisters were in the audience. His death was a profound tragedy for the family. Even 60 years later, his sisters cried when talking about it.
