 DEATH: Deaths in Massachusetts for the year 1858 in the town of Sutton; Vol 122, pg 166; FHL film #960,174; "9 Dec 1868, Priscilla Wakefield, age 86, died in Sutton of Paralysis. A Widow, born in Thompson CT."; Her parents were not listed.
  1850 U.S. Census indexed as Wakeferkax (sic) , Priscilla, shows Priscilla (Joy) Wakefield living in Sutton, Worcester MA with the Joseph Wilcox family. Also living in this household were 14 elderly persons all listed as paupers. She died in 1858, so it is supposed that she spent her remaining years in this establishment; pg 132; FHL film #443,264
  There are no birth or christening records for Priscilla Joy, as well as Elias Joy, Willard Joy, Thomas Joy, and Mary Joy as the sons and daughters of Thomas and Priscilla (Wilder) Joy, except that they are of the right age and the only Joy family living in the area of Killingly/Thompson Ct.; Burrillville, RI and Oxford/Webster of MA. Benjamim Joy and his family left the area for New Hampshire.
  It was hard to assign a birth date and place for Priscilla Joy. In the 1850 census she was given as age 76, which would make her born in 1874. This record gives her birth place as Massachusetts.
  In her marriage records she is given as "of Gloucester, Rhode Island." By 1792, when she married Timothy Wakefield, she most likely was living in Gloucester with her mother, Priscilla and her stepfather, Henry Pollock. And in her death record, her age is given as 86 when she died in 1858. so this gives a birth date of 1772, born in Thompson, Connecticut. So, I have used the death record data for her birth and birth place.
