Notes
a. Note:   sen and appointed Guardian to Thomas Joy, a minor of about seventeen years old of the town of Thompson; dated 19 Sep 1794
Is it possible that this Thomas Joy is the one, who on the 16 of June 1798 as a "housewrite of Hanover, Grafton, New Hampshire, purchased the 40 acre peice of land for 100 pounds, that Aaron Wilder had purchased in Townshend VT in 1791? This deed is witnessed by Aaron Wilders grandson, Stephen Gould, son of his daughter Esther. (Townshend Deeds; Vol 3, pg 374)
Then Thomas Joy, then of Townsend, sold the forty acre tract to Timothy Walker of Athens VT with the stipulation that Aaron and his current wife Joanna could live there for all their natural lives. This type of deed would indicate that family members were trying to care for their grandparents in their old age.
*Also of interest is a Daniel Hooker family in Goshen, Addison, Vermont who married Sally Joy, 13 Jun 1816 in Goshen. Sally is given as the daughter of Thomas and Rebecca Joy. Sally Joy was born 12 Oct 1804 in Goshen. Rebecca Joy, the mother was born 28 Apr 1775 and died in Goshen 11 Apr 1851, age 75 y 11 m 13 das. This family is listed in both the 1850 and 1860 census enumerations in Goshen.
*I have added this family to my data base. More research needs to be done
