a. Note:   BIRTH: from census records as shown below. Place is from the 1855 NY State Census. SPOUSE: No marriage record was found. Her name is from the family records of Nancy Joy.
  DEATH & BURIAL: Potter County Historical Society, Bob Currin, "The record shows that Daniel Joy, age 86, died on January 31, 1904 at School, St. Austin, of paralysis after an illness of 3 months. He was buried at Sharon PA. Daniel was living with James in Austin, according to a 1904 Directory and evidently died at (his son) James' home. By 1919, James was at Shinglehouse, Sharon Township. They owned property in Sharon Twp, mostley very small parcels although they had one of 80 acres. These were all purchased while Nancy was living. She had sold some as early as 1873. James is the only family member found who stayed in Potter County. The girls may have, under their married names. Nancy (Joy) has a marker in the Sharon Center cemetery but Daniel does not. Records show that he was buried there but no one bothered to place a marker."
