  1900 U.S. census citation: Anton Less (born Dec 1843 in Germany, listed as 57 years old) and wife Apolonia (born December 1847 in Germany, listed as 52 years old), married 34 years, total of 9 children, all of whom are still living. 4 of the children are living with them at the time: [ineligible], age 14, born August 1885 in Wisconsin; "Joesaph", (age 13, born March 1887, Wisconsin); Walenty, daughter (age 12, born Feb 1889 in Wisconsin); and Jacob (age 9, born April 1891 in Wisconsin). Anton and Apolonia are listed as having been in the United States for 15 years. Neither can read or write, but Anton can speak English but Apolonia cannot. They own a mortgaged farm.
