Note: 1852
Church Records for Ludomy, Posen, Prussia (Poland) show Josephus was born at 6 "mane" ("hands on clock") on February 16, 1852, in Ludomy, to Thomas Napierala and Marianna Ciesielska. The religion of the parents is listed as Catholic. Thomas's occupation is listed as "Custos", which in Latin means custodian (of an estate). A nearby record also shows a "Theophilas" born on the same date with mother as Marianna Ciesielska but the father is listed as "incertus pat." ("father uncertain"). Obviously the two children were twins, but for some reason Theophilas is listed as illegitimate. The most likely explanation is a clerical error where the father's name was not entered for the secon done. Both Josephus and Theophilis were baptized on June 26, 1859.
