Ballentine in Portsmouth, VA, April 19, 1856. Caroline was born in Virginia in 1838. She was the daughter of Martin J. and Mary V. Ballentine. Martin J. Ballentine gave permission for his daughter, Caroline, to marry William H. Nash. His second marriage was to Jennett J. Ballentine in Portsmouth, VA, December 21, 1865. She was the younger sister of his first wife, also the daughter of Martin J. and Mary V. Ballentine.
