Note: [WmGNash.FTW] [Jtatum.FTW] Will of James Tatem Sr.: From Will Book 4, page 216, Norfolk County, VA at the City of Chesapeake Courthouse. Dated January 28, 1808 In the name of God amen. I James Tatem Sr. of the County of Norfolk being in perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God for the same and calling to mind that all men must once die do make and ordain this my last will and testement that is to say financially and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul unto the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like burial at the discretion of my executors not doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again but the Almighty favor of God and as touching such worldly estate and property wherewith is has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give and devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, Impremis (sp?) I give and bequeath to my loving wife, Rebekah Tatem the use of all my estate and property during her widow hood. Item I give and bequeath unto my loving sons Henry and Wilson Tatem the plantaation and house whereon I now live to be equally divided between them, to them and their heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath to my lovindg dautheter Prudence Cooper fifteen pounds sfrecie (sp?) to be paid by my executors to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my three daughteers Patsy Tatem, Nancy Tatem and Rebekah Tatem the residue of my propety including Negroes, money stock of all kinds and households and kitchen furniture to them and their heirs forever. Lastly, I nominate and appont my loving wife Rebekah Tatem and son Henry Tatem executors of this my last Will and Testement revoking disannulling (sp) all other will or wills by me made.
