NASH 1850 CENSUS: Norfolk County, Portsmouth, 12 Sep 1850 Page 109, dwelling #196, Family #862 Nelson, Levi 45y/o WM, laborer, value of real estate $1000, born in Virginia " Rebecca, 43 y/o WF, born in Virginia Nash, WM. 22 y/o WM, blacksmith, born in Virginia The Levi Nelson family lived 3 dwellings from the Blanks Davis family. A William Nash married Sarah Davis. According to Henley Marriage and Obituary Database, Rebecca Nash married Levi Melson June 11, 1829 . Her father was Thomas Nash, of Western Branch. William Thomas Nash was her younger half-brother, according to the wills of Rebecca's husband and father. Also listed in the 1850 census was a Caleb Melson, age 55, Carpenter, born in VA. His wife was Catherine, age 50, also born in Virginia. Possibly Levi's brother, but I have not been able to determine a connection. A Levi Melson served in the 20th Battalion, Virginia Heavy Artillery, Company B, Choon's Battalion, Virginia Infantry, Company C, and The 61st Infantry, Company I. Rank was private, Confederate Army.
