He married Eva May Davis June 5, 1873; she wasborn in Marion Nov. 28, 1853; they have had two children--SamuelHenry, died April 30, 1878, aged 5 months; one son now living; hisname is Ernest Klaud, born April 5, 1874. [History of Linn Co Iowa onlin Ancestry.com] William H. Lamson This energetic and enterprising citizen of Marion is carrying on thebusiness of harness-making, and is meeting with success. He is the sonof Samuel C. and Hannah (Clarke) Lamson (see sketch), and was born inClintonville, N.Y., Jan. 5, 1850. He came to Cedar Rapids with hisparents when a child of four years, and at the age of sixteen began tolearn the trade of harness-making in his father's shop at Marion. Inconnection with this he also became proficient in collar-making andcarriage-trimming. Under the instruction of his father he served athorough apprenticeship, and became an expert at his trade. William H. Lamson was married in Marion, June 5, 1873, to Miss Eva MayDavis, daughter of Henry P. and Elizabeth (Lyons) Davis. Mrs. Lamsonwas born in Marion and remained with her parents until her marriage.She is a highly-esteemed member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, andto her union with our subject three children have been born, two sonsand a daughter: Ernest K., born April 5, 1874; Samuel H., born Dec.13, 1877, died June 30, 1878; Maggie S., born Feb. 3, 1885; they wereall born in Marion. Mr. Lamson is a Prohibitionist-Republican. Although a young man healready occupies a prominent position, and is rapidly becoming one ofthe solid citizens of this town. He has been a member of the CityCouncil from the Second Ward for two years. He is a member of theUnited Order of Ancient Templars, also of the V. A. S. Fraternity, andof the Modern Woodmen. Mr. Lamson established business for himself in 1870, and has secured alarge and increasing patronage. He turns out some of the finest workin the city, and is one of the most popular harness-makers of theplace. His business is carried on in a straight-forward manner, andhis goods are invariably just what they are represented to be. As anatural result he has customers from far and near, and is on thehighway to a competency, which he may enjoy in later years.
