quiet, honest, hardworking. Worked for construction company at Freeman Field during the war and later for E.M. Boss at Ford Motor Company. Began working at Brownstown Greenhouse with his dad and mom after marriage in 1938. Irene was working in the dry goods dept. at the NuWay store in Ewing for $6/wk. at the time. (Today it is no longer standing, but it was about 3 doors down from what is today WR Ewing.)
Melvin graduated from Brownstown High School and Hoosier Aeronautical School. He was a florist. He married Irene Eggersmann.
