Robert C.(sic) Clive Sr.
Ex DPW superintendent
Ilion - Robert E. Clive Sr., 69, of 717 Forge Hill Estates, died Friday, February 22, 1991.
He was born March 27, 1921 in Ilion, the son of Ronald and Rachael Paschke Clive. He was a graduate of Ilion Schools and married the former Helen Ryan Egland on June 21, 1951 in Ilion.
Mr. Clive was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was superintendent of the Ilion Department of Pubic Works before his retirement in 1980. He had previously been deputy chief of the Ilion Fire Department.
He was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, the Ilion Fire Department Benevolent Association, the Ilion Fish and Game Club, the American Legion, and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was also an avid
fan of the Utica Devils hockey team.
Mr. Clive is survived by his wife, two sons, Robert Jr. of Ilion and Ronald of Ilion, a daughter, Sharron G. Clive of North Lauderdale, FL; three stepchildren, Raymond Egland, Mrs. Sam (Delores) Geloso, Mrs. Allen (Diane) Rathbun, all of Ilion, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Whiter Hendrix Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles B. Greene officiating. Burial will be in the Armory Hills Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
