Herkimer-Ilion-Mohawk, NY Monday, January 30, 1961 A. W. Stilson, Ilion, Dies
Ilion-Arthur W. Stilson, 75, of 55 Central Avenue, former president of the Herkimer County Firemen's Association, died yesterday in the Ilion Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Stilson was a former trucking contractor for Remington Rand for many years, retiring several years ago. He was a volunteer fireman for nearly 56 years.
Born here on August 27, 1885, a son of Walter and Emma Young Stilson, he married the former Emma Paschke on September 18, 1909 in Massachusetts.
Mr. Silson (sic) was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Stasco, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Rev. Maurice Mitchell, of First Presbyterian Church, will conduct services at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Applegate Funeral Home with burial in Armory Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow. Members of the Ilion Volunteer Fire Department will meet at the Ilion Public Library at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow to go to the funeral home for ritualistic services.
