a. Note:   Phobe's marriage to William Marcy ended sometime after the birth of their last child, Anna, in 1889. Phoebe remarried in 1898. In the 1900 census of Dickson City (1st Ward), Lackawanna County, PA (Roll #1418, page 15), I found John and Phoebe Van Nort and living with them was Phoebe A. Marcy (listed as step-daughter to the head of household), born July 1889. It would seem that the child, Phoebe A., is, in fact, Anna. According to the census, Phoebe had given birth to seven children, three of whom were surviving (George, Euphemia and Anna).
  It seems that Phoebe was counted twice in the 1880 census. Besides living with her parents, she was also a servant for another family:
