Note: Mark served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1951 to 1955 and was then stationed at Fort Jackson, SC until his discharge from the service in October 1956. Prior to that, he was a member of Battery B, 109th Field Artillery, PA National Guard which was federalized by President Harry S Truman in September 1950. He shipped out two days before the train accident that killed 33 guardsmen in Ohio. Mark lost his right eye from a stray bullet in February 1954.
