Note: From the Wilkes-Barre Daily News-Dealer, Wednesday, 26 November 1890: William Zimmerman, a young miner in the No. 12 mines, was so severely injured on Monday night that he died early yesterday morning. Mr. Zimmerman was in the act of firing a shot before retiring from the mines and lighted the match attached to the powder, but before he was many feet away the blast went off, blowing out several cars of coal which fell all around Mr. Zimmerman, covering him up. He was removed to his home near the Gaylord slope and medical aid summoned. He suffered much pain during the night and at 8 o'clock yesterday morning breathed his last. Deceased was 23 years old and leaves a wife and one child to mourn his loss.
