a. Note:   When he was 17, Elmer was boarding with Elijah and Emma Lamoreaux (his sister and brother-in-law) and their infant daughter, Bessie in Plymouth (1880 Plymouth Census, Roll 1151, page 442A). The family resided in various towns in Northeast PA including Plymouth, Larksville, Luzerne, Mt. Greenwood, Centermoreland and Dallas.
  From The Wilkes-Barre Time Leader, 21 March 1916, page 15:
  "Elmer Rinus has returned home after spending the weekend at Pittston."
  A major portion of the information on the Rinus descendants was provided by Donald Marcy (Elmer and Sarah's grandson) of Tunkhannock, to whom I am thankful.
  From the Wilkes-Barre Record, Monday, 2 December 1946, page 18:
 "Elmer Rinus, 84, died Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Aubrey Weaver, 4 Center Avenue, Courtdale. He left 96 descendants. Born at Plymouth, he resided in Trucksville 18 years and for the last five lived in Courtdale. He was formerly employed at the Loree Collieries, Hudson Coal Company. He is a member of First Christian Church, Plymouth. Last March he and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Surviving are his widow and these children: Mrs. George Marcy, Mrs Elliott Miller, Mrs. Aubrey Weaver and Carpenter Rinus, Courtdale; Joseph, Buffalo; Harry, Trucksville; sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Rinus, Wilkes-Barre. Also surviving are 60 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Nine grandsons served during World War II. The father of 13 children, he lost a son in World War I and another was killed in Payne Colliery. Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 from the home of Mrs. Weaver, with interment in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Hugh Jones."
