From the Wilkes-Barre Record, Wednesday, 25 March 1925, page 21:
"Mrs. Esther McAfee, aged 83, a well known resident of this city, died yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the family home, 95 Blackman street. Surviving are the following children: Charles of Edwardsville, Sheldon of this city, Sterling of Germantown, Asher of Ashley and Mrs. Ella Lutz with whom she resided. The funeral will be held from the family home tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery."
