Note: Harmon's wives Jane & Marilla may be one & the same person. They are both the same age. This has been very hard to figure out! There was a Margaret Hunter, age 66, who was living with Harmon & Marilla in 1860. She obviously has some tie to the family (in 1870 she has Martha & Elijah Searles living with her... as well as Hannah Hall (36 & listed as Insane) with Nancy E. (7) & Sarah E. (5). Going back to 1850, Margaret Hunter lived in Jackson Township with Hannah (22) & Sarah Ann (18). Is Margaret Hunter Harmon's mother-in-law, and if so, which wife is she the mother of? ...Or was Marilla actually the Jane listed as Harmon's wife on the 1850 census? Marilla & Harmon named 2 of their daughters Margaret & Sarah Ann. Coincidence or honoring Marilla's mother & sister? Luzerne County did not keep birth/marriage/death records in the mid-19th century so unless a family bible turns up this may not be solved. If The Hunters do tie in to this family: the only Hunter in Plymouth Township on the 1840 census (Jackson Township was not yet culled from part of Plymouth into a seperate township), who had age appropriate daughters was Peter Hunter. The 1840 census only gives the first name of the head of household & then gives approximate ages for other males & females living there. Peter had 3 daughters between the ages of 5-20, 3 sons and a wife, age between 40-50.
