  77-Year-Old Slater Resident Had Been in Poor Health -- Services Held Sunday Afternoon
  Funeral services for Henry Ninn [sic] McLaughlin, who passed away in Slater at the home of Mrs. Walter Kammeyer's on last Friday, March 18, about 4:30 p.m., were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Heath Creek Baptist church. Rev. Don Baker, pastor of the New Salem Baptist church, Marshall Junction, officiated at the services and burial was made in the Heath Creek cemetery.
 The deceased, who was 77 years of age, had been in poor health for some time and about eight weeks ago he fell and broke his hip. He had been a resident of Slater for the past eight years.
 Mr. McLaughlin was born September 6, 1877 near Pilot Grove and had lived most of his life near Nelson. He was married on July 23, 1901 to Miss Katherine Ann Rutledge, who survives together with five children: L.M. Nelson McLaughlin, of Slater; Mrs. Nellie Bailey, of Marshall; and Mrs. Estelle Isla, Mrs. Hettie Deibel and Mr. William McLaughlin, all of the state of California. One child died in infancy.
 Mr. McLaughlin was a great lover of the Bible and was a man who was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him, and in addition to the relatives, he leaves a host of old time friends to mourn his passing.

 Rev. Don Baker Conducted Services at Heath Creek Baptist Church
  Funeral services for Henry Nim McLaughlin, who passed away Friday, March 18, in Slater, were held at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Heath Creek Baptist church. Rev. Don Baker, pastor of the New Salem Baptist church, Marshall Junction, officiated. Interment was in the Heath Creek cemetary.
 Mrs. Grover Meeker, pianist accompanied James Rennison when he sang "Safe In the Arms of Jesus," "Face to Face," and "Beyond the Sunset."
 Pallbearers, nephews of the deceased, were George Fletcher, Tom Fletcher, James McLaughlin, Paul McLaughlin, Mitchell McLauglin and Hall McLaughlin.
 Mr. McLaughlin was born September 6, 1877 near Pilot Grove and spent most of his life near Nelson. He was married, July 23, 1901 to Miss Katherine Ann Rutledge.
 Surviving, beside his widow, are five children, W.A. McLaughlin, of the state of California; Mrs. C.P. Deibel, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Estelle Isla, Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. W.W. Bailey, Marshall; L.M. Nelson McLaughlin of Slater. Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by a child who died in infancy.
