a. Note:   N288 J. D. (Dell) Mclaughlin was a retired farmer and minister. He died at his home in Slater, Missouri . He had been in failing health about three years and had been bedfast the last eleven weeks of his life. He had been in critical condition for the last three days. J.D. spent his entire life in Pettis and Saline Counties. Rev. Mclaughlin was ordained a minister of the Christian church in his early years. He was active in preaching more than fifty years. He conducted services at Union Church near Beaman and also at Berea Christain Church in Cooper County near the Pettis county line for many years. He started the Berea Church in a brush arbor until a church building could be built. He combined preaching, with farming land nearby. He moved to Saline County in 1934 and lived near Ridge Prairie.
