Hand written notes of Iola (McCafferty) Oliver (S6) "Petition of Thomas Mcaffery of the Parish N. Weldford in the County of Kent, NB. He petitioned to purchase 100 acres of wilderness Crown Land on the North Forks of the Molus river, three miles above the settlement from Stevenson." No record can be located granting him these acres. (S1) The 1861 census lists Thomas (Canada started their census in 1851, but one has not survived for Kent County) in house number 47, as head of the household, age 32, born in County Fermanagh, Ireland. (Dr. Martin's notes tell us the town was Enniskillen, which is in Northern Ireland). Thomas' religion was the Church of England (CofE), and he was a farmer/laborer. No wife is listed. There are five children listed Ellen, age 10, Eliza, age 7, James William, age 5, Bernard age 2, and George Thomas age 1 month.
