  Robert and Cader Edwards took part in the battle of Fallen Timbers, June, 1794. "On this campaign, they made the acquaintance of Nimrod Crain, a noted scount for Gen. Wayne, and after their discharge from the army, on the invitation of young Crain, they visited him at his father's home on the bank of the Licking River, about one and half miles above its junction with the Ohio. Here Cader (Edwards) first met Elizabeth (Betsy) Crain, who was then a beautiful girl of about fifteen years old."

  (1) a Nimrod Crane is listed in the 1840 census of Jefferson County, Kentucky just four lines (or "doors") below the enumeration of Joseph Gherkin. Joseph was the father of Julina Gherkin b. abt 1834 who married Benjamin H. Crane 10 Mar 1853. Nimrod's family composition in 1840 was 1-1-0-1-0-0-0-0-1-0-0-0-0 and 0-0-0-0-0-0-1-0-0-0-0-0-0, which is to say, one male under 5 (Benjamin ?), one male 5 and under 10 (Ransom ?), one male 15 and under 20, one male 60 and under 70 and one female 40 and under 50.
