a. Note:   s born in 1704. In 1709 a 40 year old John Gnaedig arrived at St. Catharine's, England; with this John was his wife, two sons and a daughter. The one son was 5 years old, or born in 1704. John and family was returned to Germany in 1709 because they were of the catholic faith (only protestants were accepted for further transport to America in 1709). Hans Leonhard is believed to be the 5 year old son of John Gnaedig.
 2, John Gnaedig and wife (Veronica/Verena Hoffman) had three of their 5 (Hans Leonhard was not one of the five) children baptised at the Catholic Church at Bohlingen, Konstanz County, State of Baden, Germany, the assumption is made that Hans Leonhard was born at the same location.
