A photograph of the sternwheeler Locea Mason was found among Gideon Gillihan's personal effects. It is not known if the people in the picture are family members. A newspaper article written in 1864 refers to Tom Crawford as a family member. [Gideon's wife was Mary Jane Henslee]
' It was at the launching of the Locea Mason that Capt'n Pete saw a little boy fall overboard from a nearby ship. I can still see another young man, by the name of Tom Crawford, jump in and save him, just in time to prevent him from drifing under the hull, recalls Captain William Weir [the man who started the first boat run for freight and passengers on the Lewis River].'
