A letter from A. D. Hiller to Mrs. A. H. Holcomb on Jan 15, 1935 was part of this file and summarized the information.
-born 14 Feb. 1760 in Raritan, NJ which is now in Somerset Co.
-his father lived in Northumberland Co, PA during the Rev. War
- served 4 tours, 2 as a substitute for his father
- left service in 1783 and went to Northumberland Co, PA, then to Lycoming Co, PA and then to Erie Co, PA by about 1800 since he had lived there 33 years by 1832 when allowed pension
- married Polly Gracy on 3 July 1822 in Erie Co, PA
- died 14 Jan 1857 in McKean, Erie Co, PA
- Polly Gracy Oliver was 68 when she received pension on 7 May 1857
- Stephen’s brother John Oliver was 59 in 1832 and living in Erie Co, PA
The letter included these two pieces of information which I didn’t find when I read the file, but likely missed.
- 1870 she was living in Girard Co, PA
- Stephen Oliver, Jr. was living in OH, formerly Erie Co, PA (relationship not stated)
