 !Sanders County Ledger -30 years ago, Jan 7, 1953- "Late in the day Dec. 31, 1952, Wilbur Page, regional serviceman for Northern Lights Coop...energized the Cherry Creek line east of Thompson Falls. To celebrate the coming of electricity the Gable, Arnold, Grant, Murphy and Saint families and Gus Garrison met with the Franklin Sorenson family for a watch party. Some of these families have lived for years within three miles of Thompson Falls power house (Montana Power Co.) and have had to use gas and kerosene lamps until now..." I was 8 years old. irg
 !Obit: "Longtime Thompson Falls resident, Howard Robert "Bob" Saint, 77, died of cancer Wednesday, March 27, 1991 at his home on Cherry Creek Rd., southeast of Thompson Falls. He was born Feb.16,1914 at Plains to Ben F. and L. Fern Saint. His early years were spent at Trout Creek and later at Noxon where his father was a forest ranger. In 1929 the family moved to Thompson Falls, where Mr. Saint graduated from high school. He and Sylvia Grant were married in 1938. Mr. Saint was involved in various business ventures in Thompson Falls from 1940 to 1973, including construction of the building on Main St. which now houses the Lonesome Dove, where he operated a service station, garage and (machine and automobile repair) shop, and a dry cleaning business. He then worked at Flodin-Bryce Lumber (now Thompson River Lumber), retiring in 1976. He was a past master of Thompson Falls Masonic Lodge No. 70 (also El Maida Shrine) and a member of the Thompson Falls Senior Citizens. He enjoyed numerous outdoor activities with his family, particularily huckleberry picking. (Fishing, gathering mushrooms,...) Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, of the family home...; a son and daughter-in-law, William Ben "Bill" and Heather Saint..., a daughter and son-in-law, Inez and William Garrett and a grandson, Robert Garrett of La Luz NM; a sister Alice Banister, Missoula; two brothers Don, Thompson Falls, and Bruce, Spokane Wash., and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Montana Stockton. At his request, no public services were held. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Coffelt-Bunch Funeral Service of Thompson Falls." --Sanders County Ledger, Thursday, 4Apr1991 p.6. copied (with additions) by irg. Donations were made in his name to the local ambulance service, Shrine hospitals, Ronald McDonald House, Shodair House, Alamogordo Public Library in NM and many others.
