Notes
a. Note:   This initial core of this family, father, mother and two oldest children, arrived in the US for in-processing in either Galveston or New Orleans on the ship Nurnberg on 8 Nov 1879. Where they came from in Bohemia/Moravia is not known. I could not find any records for this family in the Frenstat/Trojanovice area. By 1900, Frank and Anna had divorced. In the 1900 US Census, Anna and the children were living in Austin County and Frank was working in Burleson County.
 Zatopek of Texas Research
In trying to unravel my own Zatopek family, the descendants of Franz (Frantisek) Jurek and Anna Kurec and specifically his daughter Rosalia who married Johann (Jan) Zatopek, I looked at all of the Zatopek families in Texas. The Rosalia Jurek Zatopek mentioned above was my grandmother's aunt.
The records reviewed included the US Census Records, Texas Death Certificates, Texas Birth Index, Early Texas Marriages, deaths recorded by tombstones at findagrave.com, and Czech Republic birth, marriage, and death records from Frenstat, Trojanovice, Tiche, Kuncice pod Ondrejniken (all of which are within five miles of Frenstat). None of the families in this genealogy could be traced back to and be found in the Czech records mentioned with the information available. The families included here are as follows:
 1. Joseph or Josef Zatopek who married Rozina Barcak. This family settled in Fayette County and was there in 1900. Joseph died sometimes before his widow, Rozina (nee Barcak) married Joseph Vasulek in May 1899. No record could be found of him while he was living by me. The only record that I found of his name was in the death certificates of some of his children.
 2. Frank Zatopek who was born either June 1869 (1900 Census) or July 1867 (death certificate) and who married Frances (Franceska) Pros or Ambroz.. He was living in Lavaca County in 1900.
 3. Frank Zatopek who was born in January 1842 (1900 Census birth) and married Anna Tomenec or Tominec. In 1900, Frank was shown as living in Burleson County and Anna and the children were living Austin County. Frank and Anna were married when they arrived in Texas 1879 in Texas with two children, Franceska about three and Friedr (probably Frederick) age 1. The marriage and neither of the two children's births were found in or around Frenstat, CZ. In 1900, the census indicated that Anna was the mother of six children of which four were living.
 4. Ignac Zatopek who was born either May 1851 (1900 Census) or 1 January 1851 (tombstone) and he married Johanna Strelic in 1885 in Fayette County. He and his family lived in Lavaca County in 1900 but he and his wife are buried in Fayetteville.
 5. Frank Zatopek born 1860 died 18 Jan 1920. This Frank really confuses me. His death certificate indicates that he was the son of John Zatopek and Rozalie Jurek but the information available does not add up to that being the case. Frank (or Frantisek or Franz) Zatopek, the son of Jan (or Johan, or John) Zatopek and his wife , Rozalie Jurek, married in Frenstat, CZ on 29 Aug 1882 to Rosalie Smahlik and together they had a son Josef born in that same Frenstat on 25 Mar 1890. The Frank Zatopek who died 18 Jan 1920 and is buried in Fayetteville, TX married Rose Gerik at an unknown place on an unknown date but probably in 1888 or 1889. He immigrated to The US in 1885 according to 1900 Census and he and Rose/Rosina had five children between September/October 1889 September/October 1898 and two more children after the 1900 US Census with all children born in Texas.
