  Silas Wood was a Sergeant in Capt.Wm Ellis' Co., in the 3d Battalion NH Forces, commanded by Col. Alexander Scammell in the Rev War.
 Silas appears on the above Company Muster Roll on the following dates:
 * From Nov 8, 1776 to Sept. 5, 1777, camped near ---- Ferry (word is not clear). Roll dated Sept.5, 1777. Appointed May 2, 1777. Term of enlistment 8 months.
 * From Sept.1777 to Jan 1, 1778, camped near Valley Forge. Roll dated Jan 2, 1778. Term of enlistment 8 months.
 * Jan 1778. Roll dated Feb 21, 1778. Term of enlistment 8 months. Discharged Jan 10 (?).
  Silas Wood Appears with the rank of Non Effectives - Pvt - on a Return of the Non commissioned officers and Privates who now are or have ever been in Capt. Nicholas Gilman's Co. from 1st Jan 1777 up to the first of Jan 1780. Shewing the times of their Inlistment, discharges & the time of the Sev. desertions.
  Time of Inlistment and Term, May 9th 1777 8 months. Remarks: discharged Jan 10, 1778.
  The following is taken from "Alford's History of Noble Co., Indiana", in the Biography of Harrison Wood:
 Silas Wood was commissioned as:
 2nd Lt. in the Third Co. of the 1st Regiment, NH Militia, dated at Exeter May 10, 1787
 2nd Lt. of the same company, dated at Dunham Sept. 7, 1789. Captain of the same company, dated at Exeter Aug 23, 1793.
