a. Note:   Elijah Clemens Nelson, Jr. was a veteran of World War I, serving in France. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1915 from the University of Texas and his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1921. After graduation from college, he served as Floyd County Judge from 1923 to 1926. He taught at Wayland College in Plainview, Texas prior to moving from Floydada, Texas to Amarillo, Texas on January 2, 1927. He was Judge of the Potter County Court At Law from March 19, 1931 until it was abolished by the Governor on April 25, 1933. He served as Judge of the 47th District Court from January 1, 1935 to December 31, 1939.
  He served as an attorney in the Legal Department of Phillips Petroleum Company in Amarillo, Texas until March 12, 1952 when he was appointed by the Governor of Texas as Judge of the 108th District Court in Amarillo, Texas where he served until December 31, 1960. He retired on January 1, 1961. Elijah Clemens Nelson, Jr. is buried next to his wife Frances Marie Sanderson Nelson in Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Texas.
