Note: Grand Dukedom of Hesse, Dec. 3, 1829 and died at his home in Brimfield, Illinois, March 14, 1914, age 84 years, 3 months and 10 days. But according to the 1880 Census for Jubilee Twp., Peoria, IL., he was 57 years of age at the time of the Census and Elizabeth, who was also born in Germany was 52. He was united in marriage in the year 1853 to Miss Elizabeth Balzer. To this union six children were born. Those living to mour his loss are Mrs. Philip Kratzer of Oak Hill; Caspar G. Strieder and Will J. Strieder of Brimfield. Ten grandchildren and one great grand child also survive. His wife preceded him Feb 5, 1901. Mr. and Mrs. Strieder sailed from their native land for America in March 1860 and arrived at New Orleans July 4. They settled in Jefferson Co., Missouri, where they lived for six years, and then moved to Illinois, settling in Rosefield township, and remaining in this vicinity until their death. The funeral service was held on Monday Morning, conducted by Rev. Jass of Peoria at the Lutheran church in Jubilee. Interment in the Lutheran cemetery.
