Notes
a. Continued:   Info from 1937 news article about his compressed air engine (Christian Science Monitor 24 Aug 1937, p 1): --name: Obid M Smith
 --1937 residence: Miami, Florida
--25 years experience with compressed air
 --prior residence: Chicago, Illinois
--occupation: operated a garage in Chicago for "several years" --1929: toured the US (9000 miles,11 states) in an air car; climbed Pike's Peak, Colorado in air car I have found very solid evidence that Obid Monroe Smith is the same person. This was an article from the Miami Herald published 31 July 1937 in which his name is stated outright as "Obid Munroe Smith" and his age is right. From his WWI draft registration:
--born 22 Apr 1895 in BELL BUCKLE, Bedford Co, TENNESSEE (50 mi se of Nashville) --present address 1917: Byers, Colorado (just east of Denver and about 75 mi north of Pike's Pk) --mechanic
 --married
 --employer: "no one"
--where registered: McClain Co, Oklahoma (just south of Oklahoma City) --medium height/build, gray eyes, light hair, not bald, no physical defects The Obid M Smith who died in Preble County, OH in 1962 is a definite match by age and name of siblings, and location of siblings. Here is the obituary: Obid M. Smith
