Note: The Pearce homestead is now a part of Alegheny Co. North Park. In 1967 the home was still standing, and is used for the administrative offices for the park. The mill and farm buildings are gone. The mill pond has been flooded and converted into a 3 mile long lake. Edwin moved to Shreve Ohio in 1873. Edwin like his father was a miller, and 1 1/2 miles east of Shreve Ohio built a mill operated by a water wheel. a section of the grindstone is on exhibit at the Wayne Co Historical society, Wooster, Ohio. Later, about 1885 he moved into Shreve and built the first roller mill. The building was still standing in the same location in 1967, although it has been remodeled. Photo of Edwin Pearce
