Notes
a. Note:   Daughter of Ivey and Mahalia Dorman Harper.
My mother, Fannie Harper, was the daughter of Ivey and Mahala Dorman Harper. She was a smart person. She cooked, sewed, cooked syrup in syrup making time. Mama also made lace and was a good seamstress. She canned a lot and loved to make jelly. After marriage to Sidney Jordan, she left Woodland Methodist Church and moved her letter to Pine Level Baptist Church. We lived in the hewed log house which my children now call "Grandpa's House" in Grady County, Georgia. She always wanted the walls washed down. We had to bring water from a well out front as we did not have water running to the house then. We had huge fireplaces, one was made to cook over. We had to white wash them with lime ( I think); I am not sure now what it was. We did the floors with white sand and to clean cooking pots. Brooms were made from gallberry bushes to sweep the very large yards. We had to keep the grass hoed and pull the bitter weeds that grew in the front yard. However, everything was not work. We enjoyed climbing in the three oaks, cedar and magnolia trees out front and, oh yes, I forgot the pecan, mulberry and pear trees in back. We had three grape arbors. We children played in the woods nearby.
In Grady County Census of 1910, Fannie was 12 years old.
