Note: N4 Minnie seems to have been orphened at an early age. She was adopted by Isaac and Sarah Shuster at age 9 months and raised in Vernon, Van Buren County, Iowa. Isaac was the son of Abraham and Margaret Hawk Shuster. Margaret was the sister of Susannah Hawk O’Hara Robinson.. After Susannah’s death and the death of Margaret’s husband, Absalom and Margaret married. (so Absalom married his sister-in-law) and Minnie went to live with her great aunt’s son. Minnie is listed as an adopted daughter in the 1880 census records. The census was taken in June of 1880, so her parents must have died or left her and her sister Effa sometime around December 1879.
