a. Note:   Son of Patrick Hogan and Margaret Gillen, Baptized on February 19, 1858. Sponsors were Michael Hogan and Mary Horkan.
  The baptism record states that the family came from the townland of Lisbane in the parish of Kilconduff. Since no actual reference to the family exists on the Griffiths Valuation of the mid 1850s, they may have arrived in Lisbane between 1855-1858.
  Fought as a prize fighter before marrying Mary Cullinan. Fought under the pseudonym of the "Masked Marvel" and with a mask so that Mary Cullinan would not know that he was fighting.
