Source of information family search. Not sure or positive of the accuracy of this information. He was an engineer for the Southern Pacific Railroad in the 1880's After leaving the railroad he was Commisary Officer at San Quentin Prison, California, until 1899 He then went into the hotel business in Rio Vista for ten years, after which he invested in a freightieng business on the Sacramento River operating his tugs and barges mainly between Sacramento and San Francisco. He continued in this business until he retired. He was a member of Sacramento Lodge I.O.O.F and a life member of Vallejo Lodge No. 539 B.P.O.E
