a. Note:   n Portland, OR; a tavern owner in Cave Junction, OR; a logging company owner in Willits, CA, a waitress, a secretary, several kinds of sales representatives, a tailor, an author (unpublished), a long-haul truck driver and heavens only knows what other occupations. She was 5' 1 1/2" tall, brown hair and eyes and was "built like a brick outhouse". She dyed her hair red in 1953, and went blonde about 1968.
  She was divorced by her first husband, Richard Beyerle, but she divorced all the rest. However, she may not have been legally married to Lee Douglas, and may have married B.E. Tabor some months after she began living with him. Her final husband was a homosexual that was in danger of being deported, so she married him to prevent this from happening.
  She never cared for convention, and rarely thought of anyone but herself. She spent years as an active drunk. Two of her three children never finished high school (Douglas & Lynton) due to frequent moving and family chaos. Yet, she instilled a love of education and strongly encouraged reading.
  In her 50's, she came up with the idea of riding her horse to all of the state capitals of the 48 contiguous states. In order to garner publicity for this trip, and hopefully to raise funds for it, she rode her palomino horse "Sonny" across Death Valley at the height of the summer heat. She was dressed in a white leotard with green spangles sewed on, fishnet hose a cowboy hat and boots! This ride was mentioned in newspapers as far away as Paris, France.
  At the time of her death, she had been taking College courses for 3 years, had completed 49 units, with a grade point average of 3.85.
