In the 1910 census taken on the 22 April of 1910 the family headed by Irish born Andew O’Leary lived at 271 Walbridge Ave. in Toledo. The record notes that he immigrated in 1893 and he was a naturalized citizen. He worked as a policeman for the city. Julia his wife, also born in Ireland of Irish parents, immigrated in 1903 and was not yet naturalized. This couple had been married for four years and she was the mother of two children: Daniel 2, and Mary H age 3 months, both born in Ohio.
The 1920 census was taken on 9,10 January for the Andrew O’Leary household living at 271 Walbridge Avenue, in District 0132, Toledo Ward 12. Andrew, the head of household was born in Ireland of Irish born parents and he was employed as a policeman by the City of Toledo. The record states he immigrated in 1895 and was naturalized citizen in 1890. One of those numbers on the census must be incorrect. Julia, immigrated in 1897 and was naturalized in 1900 which makes more sense.. She too was Irish born of Irish born parents. Daniel J, 9, was born in Ohio, as were Mary H age 10 and Thomas C age 4 and 2 months.
1924 and 1926 school yearbooks listed Daniel O’Leary, of 271 Walbridge Ave. of Immaculate Conception Paris attended Central Catholic High School.
In the 1926 High school year book it was noted that he was in the Debate organization. and there is a photo of him.
the 1930 census, taken on April 9 1930 finds the family still living at 271 Walbridge Ave, and Andrew is a police officer for the city. He owns their home which is valued at $5000.They do not own a radio. He is widowed. He was born in the Irish Free State. His son Daniel 22 is not employed. Mary Helen 20 and Thomas C are not employed either. The record states that Andrew immigrated in 1898 and he was a naturalized citizen.
