Her birth record stating a birthdate of 20 June 1906 is more reliable. She was the daughter of Arley and Glennie Taylor Spicer. Neither she nor DJ were previously married. Rev Francis H Schaefer the pastor of St Patrick church in Bryan married them. The five day waiting between the date of the license and the marriage was waived. She lived in Toledo and worked as a bookkeeper at the time of her marriage.
Martha’s parents lived at 125 Essex in Toledo at the time of her birth.
Martha had a half brother name of Millard according to Sheila.
