Note: N3 9 May 1892 an Andrew O’Leary born about 1873 arrived in New York from Queensland Ireland on the SS Arizona. He was a laborer. If I was a gambler, I would bet this is our Andrew. In October 1897, there is a 20 year old Andrew O’Leary arrived in Boston, Massachussets on the ship Catalonia having embarked at Queensland Ireland. He was of Irish descent and carried one suitcase. He was a laborer. On the same page was a 22yo Bridget Malone traveling, I mention this for no present known reason. In 1900 census, Andrew was a boarder in the household of Thomas Cocran at 139 Illinois St in Toledo. He is 27yo born in 1873 and it is stated that he immigrated in 1891- 9 years ago. William Malone a year older than him, from Ireland is another boarder in the household. Andrew’s brother Thomas married a Mary Malone, so this could be a future brother in law. In 1910 census it states that Andrew immigrated in 1893 and is naturalized. He and his wife had been married for 4 years. Sept 12, 1918 WWI Draft registration noted that Andrew was of medium heighth, stout build with black eyes and black hair. He was a naturalized US Citizen who was born in Ireland. The 1920 census states that Andrew immigrated in 1895. Andrew states in 1930 that he immigrated in 1898. He owned the home he lived in and was a police officer for the city. Julia had died in Feb, 1930, his children Daniel J, Mary Helen, and Thomas C lived with him. His WWI registration card of Sep 12, 1918 states he was born Nov 28 1873, and he was a policeman for the city of Toledo. He lived at 271 Walbridge and he was 44 years old. He was of medium heighth and small built with black hair and black eyes. He was a naturalized citizen. his next of kin was Julia. Annie remembers her grandfather Andy: “ I only recall being with him once at the breakfast table when i was about four years old. I was five years old when he died. Interesting to note in the obit is that my father survived diptheria as a child.” Andrew’s SS# 272227508 born in the republic of Ireland. The SS record noted that he was born 28 Nov 1874. (a year later than I had previously noted) (The WWI draft registration noted that he was born in 1873.)
